Looted Art

Lately in the news I keep hearing about looted art. Two main things that people connect to looted art are about Jewish and Afghanistan. But lately in the news other things come up. For example, Italy got back pieces from the Getty, the MET and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Today on NPR I have heard that the American Association of Museums is working on a document that will make museums liable for acquiring looted art. I think it is about time! What do you think? What do your students think about looted art? Is it right that prestigious museums purchase art without being liable or, even worse, without researching the provenance?
